In these 3 months of living in Portugal, we got to know a little bit of the dance community here. We have taken different classes and we have met different dance styles. From hip hop, house, dancehall, afro house, kuduro, high heels, freestyle . . .
It is great that we can find versatility of different dance styles and dances from different cultures in one place. It makes our dance view much bigger.
In this post, we are representing some of the dance influencers from Portugal / Lisbon!
CHECK THEM OUT!
One of the biggest dance names in Portugal. She is a big inspiration for all the dancers here, because she risked it and made it! She is living in Los Angeles now, where she is dancing with artists like Justin Timberlake, Jason Derulo, Rihanna… She really is a strong dancer, with strong hip hop foundation. What makes her even more recognizable is her unique movement. We are also big fans of her . . . take a look why!
Ok . . . let’s go back to the roots! The man who is keeping the real hip hop flavour in his hands. His classes are really challenging. If you don’t put the real hiphop flavour to his choreography you will look funny. 🙂 We also really respect his amazing musicality of catching all of the beats and sounds.
Crazy alien! A dude with many dance experiences, from dancing and choreographing for different projects not only in Portugal but also in London, Sweden, Poland . . . His movement can take you to different vibes, from some 90 hip hop, weird majestic to some soul, jazz vibes. He always makes us dance … and laugh 🙂
COMMERCIAL HIP HOP
Filipe Rico is bringing LA movement to dance classes. Strong, powerful and precise movement with a lot of body control. . . He is also choreographer of different artists and shows here in Portugal. For example for the very well known singer David Carreira (“Justin Bieber” of Portugal).
FABIO JORGE – KRAYZE
RAPIDO! 🙂 Fast and crazy afro vibes! His classes are challenging and full of energy. Kuduro is dance style that we first met here. It is super fast, precise and of course with a lot of African flavour. We enjoy his classes a lot!
Carina is one of the strongest dancehall dancers and teachers that we have met here. She represents dancehall without any excuses. Her students have to know the names of the steps and for sure, you can feel the Jamaican vibes in her class.
Blaya is well known dancer from Brazil who made Afro house more popular in Portugal. She also teach kuduro and twerk. She always puts Brazilian flavour in to her movement and groove is in her blood as you can see!
ANDREIA ANTUNES – TUXA FIERCE
Andrea is. . . absolutely one good example how to be fierce on the stage. Sensual and beautiful high heels movement is what she brings in every class. We would say that her classes are made for women souls. 😉
Leo is beyond amazing mover. Her house technique is on next level. We always admire how she can move so fast, so harmonised and at the same time so groovy, light and precise. Just take a look!
Actually, we have never met him for real. We just catch an eye on him. If you check his dancing you will know why! Organic movement and great ear for music. Respect for that!
My Judge demo on “Porto World Battle: Iberian Qualifier” last Saturday. Judgin’ this one was special for me because it means that we can accomplish whatever we want if we believe in it. 🙏🏾 appreciate the invite Max Oliveira and Deeogo Oliveira. Thank you brothiee Denilson for recording and editing this moment. 💙 Music: Wait a Minute by Musiq Soulchild I do not own the rights of the song for creative purpose only.
